The Functions of plastic packaging are conveyed in three Ps:
P1: Presentation. The first letter P provides us with packaging information including

P2: Protection
The second letter P represents what the packaging supplier typically provides for their clients or how the packaging supplier caters to clients’ requirements if the clients have a qualified packaging laboratory to conduct experiments.

P3: Preservation
The third letter P is similar to the second.
1. Retain the quality of the product inside the packaging until use, as follows:
1.1. The product is not softened due to penetration by oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide (O2, N2, CO2) and steam (H2O)
1.2. The product’s flavor is intact thanks to penetration by oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide (O2, N2, CO2) and steam (H2O).
3. Classification of plastic packaging
3.1 By applications:
- Is the packaging in direct contact with the product
For example: 3-in-1 coffe stick or sachets
- Is the packaging in indirect contact with the product
For example: a packet of 32 3-in-1 coffee sachets x 16g
3.2 By layers:
- Single-layer films: are films with only one layer, such as shopping bags, and nylon bags
- Multi-layer films: are films with multiple combined layers, such as packets of tea, coffee, confectionery and detergents.
